Here at Mainstay Life Services, our employees are important to us and we pride ourselves on being an organization that cares about them. Our goal is to provide our employees with competitive wages and help them to achieve work/life balance. Consequently, we have earned ourselves annual recognition by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette as a Top Workplace since 2015. We could not provide the care and supports we do without each and every one of our inspiring employees – employees like Doug.
Doug has been working for Mainstay since 2011. After retiring from General Motors, Doug moved back to the Pittsburgh area and knew he wanted his next job to be one where he could give back. When Doug came across a Mainstay job posting, he had no idea the impact the organization and the people we support would ultimately have on his life.
“When I look back on my career, none of my other jobs have been as rewarding,” says Doug. “What we do and the people we help are just phenomenal. It makes you grow as a person.”
Doug loves every aspect of his job, but his favorite part is to see the progress his clients make right before his very eyes.
“The fact that I can help someone put together a grocery list, count money and do these things that they have never done before makes me feel so blessed to help them,” says Doug.
Doug goes above and beyond the role of being a caregiver to his clients. By helping them accomplish their goals and being able to provide endless support, he becomes their family.
“Getting up every morning, I know where I’m going and I know that we are going to accomplish something together,” Doug says. “Mainstay becomes the ‘village’ that helps them.”
At Mainstay we could not agree more. Every member of our community is a member of our family and we are so glad Doug is a part of ours.
