Lindsay started receiving services from Mainstay when she was in her late twenties, while she still lived with her family. After attending classes at CCAC and the Children’s Institute, she moved into one of Mainstay’s homes that provides specialized Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) supports to continue her healthy routines.

For Lindsay, that doesn’t just mean her exercise and diet habits. It also means her work and social routines!

Lindsay is a social butterfly who likes to keep herself busy. She has worked at Mainstay as a Peer Advocate since 2023. At work, she takes part in the interview process for new hires and meets with new staff during orientation. She also is an active member of The Voices of Mainstay self-advocacy committee, where she empowers people to speak up for themselves and always remember “Nothing about me without me.” Her advocacy work has taken her across the state to Harrisburg, PA, to speak at a Pennsylvania Developmental Disabilities Council (PADDC) advocacy group meeting. During the meeting, she shared her personal advocacy experience, expressed her interests in further advocacy-related education, and provided insights on the development of a new statewide advocacy network.

Outside of work, Lindsay enjoys going to the movies, doing puzzles, celebrating the holidays with her family, and enjoying coffee from local cafes. She also loves going to monthly dances. Lindsay says that they’re a great way to make friends with people from different agencies, as well as learn about the missions of other organizations.
